We lost a legend recently and this week on Saturday Night Jive we watched the Bob Newhart episode of SNL from the disastrous Season 20. In the height of SNL's "bad boy" era, they brought on the television icon to class up the joint a little bit. What results is an all-around solid and fun show, while maybe not the downright classic that George remembered from his youth. We get a cold open about the Colin Ferguson trial, a Bob Newhart monologue, Jay Mohr dressed as Ricki Lake, Chris Farley promoting his book of world records, Norm MacDonald anchoring Weekend Update, a very bad Baywatch parody, Bob giving an interview to a disgruntled postal employee, Farley and Chris Elliott playing "Hi, Bob", a manic depressive sports announcer, and the pleasant voice of Des'ree. R.I.P. Bob, you were one of the greats. Enjoy!
