Am 14. Februar kam es bei einer Verfolgungsfahrt in Gewässern nahe der Inseln Kinmen zu einem Zusammenstoß zwischen einem Schiff der taiwanischen Küstenwache und einem Schnellboot aus China. Dabei kamen zwei chinesische Staatsbürger ums Leben.
