Mistakes were made. When I had realized the late great Robert Altman was in fact the director of this weeks "film" ... and having just watched The Long Goodbye ... I thought to myself:
Self, how can you NOT put Popeye on the list. I could sit through it again ... I think. I mean its Robert Altman. Maybe I'll have a new found appreciation for what is arguable not a great movie. I was inarguable wrong.
There isn't much more to say. The film is notoriously bad and for good reasons. Altman couldn't save it. Williams couldn't save it. And Shelley Duvall playing the role she was clearly born to play is yet still not enough to make this musical (and holy mother of god do I use the term musical lightly) watchable.
Also Andrew shuts down what I thought was going to be an interesting political discussion between the two of us to talk about some random movies he watched on a plane or something ......
