My journey to self-care continues this time in a different season of life.

Earlier this year I was laid off from a job I adored. Through this experience I was given the chance to take a step back and pause. Through that pause, I was able to learn that when you are still and silent, God opens our ears to truths we’ve been avoiding.

A loss of belonging is painful. So much of our identity is wrapped up in what role we play in society. I was immediately asked by others and also thought to myself: What do I do now? An immediate panic sets in, you struggle with the pain, but ultimately you figure it out. What I want to share with those of you out there currently hurting: there is ALWAYS more to your story. I am grateful you get the hear that from our guest on episode 10 - Jamie Ivey.

The biggest lesson I have learned through this process is that God doesn't give us a 5 year plan - He just shows us the next right step we need to take. And personally as someone that plans out nearly every hour of my day - this is a tough concept to accept. He knows our 5 year/10 year/100 year plan, but all we need to know is that next step in that plan. We have to trust.

We also have to trust that just because something bad happened didn't mean we did something wrong. We ask ourselves: “What could I have done differently? How can I fix this?” Nothing and you can't. Just remember this: There is no glory and no victory unless there is pain.

An author I adore Glennon Doyle said recently on Jen Hatmaker's podcast: life is not about avoiding the fires, its about realizing that we are fireproof and we can walk through the fires and not burn up. And once you realize that, everything changes. You no longer wait for the other shoe to drop.

So many people said to me, "You may find something better." And all I would think when they would say that, is "But there isn't anything better." But there was, I am now blessed with a fulfilling career, surrounded by an uplifting and encouraging team. But how would I have ever know that was out there unless I had gone through this experience? But don't just take it from me, I hope you will gather that same sentiment as you listen to Season Two.

You will hear from folks that thought they had their dream career, a chef, a doctor, and now they both are living their best lives as authors. Looking at you Jessica and Julian!

Two women that blow my mind with how they are able to get IT done! Lauren as she plans out-of-this-world events and Alex, as she stands her ground and makes no apologies.

Two ladies that have found their identity in helping others, Colene, who inspires women to take that leap of faith and Anna, who wants ladies to flex their female.

Sarah teaches the art of learning to breath through those stressful situations, and Laura will help us regain lost time we thought we could never get back.

You don't have to lose your job to re-evaluate your life, take this time. Pause. Listen. And just maybe you might find something better.
