John Markus, BBQ Pitmasters Television Series Creator and Eric C. Gray, Author of Backyards to Ballparks

John Markus may not have invented competition barbecue, but the television series he created, BBQ Pitmasters is responsible for what many cooks say made them take up competitive barbecue and helped lead to this latest barbecue craze. John's career includes writing a revival of the animated "Mighty Mouse,” staff writer on Working Stiffs, writing an episode of Taxi, and he then joined the original writing staff of The Cosby Show. There is much more, but being a barbecue podcast, we invited John on to discuss his career, but especially what led him to create The All Star Barbecue Showdown which later became the beloved, BBQ Pitmasters. In 2002, John was inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame. Go to https://john-markus.com/ for more informtion on John Markus.

Eric C. Gray has written a book which will make you laugh, cry and experience a whole range of emotions. The book is Backyards to Ballparks: More Personal Stories from the Stands and Beyond which follows up his highly successful book, Bases to Bleachers. The books are filled with stories that everyone can relate to. Per Eric's website, "These are the stories from people who you and I pass on the street every day, but don’t get a chance to meet, ask them questions, or hear about their baseball experiences. Eric spent many years meeting people, making friends, and collecting their stories." For more information on Eric C. Gray go to https://basestobleachers.com/

We conclude the show with the song, Baseball Always Brings You Home from the musician, Dave Dresser and the poet, Shel Krakofsky.
