We had a great discussion session on Meet the Author with Allan Kehler discussing “MENtal Health It’s Time to Talk '' with our community co-host Gary Wong.

In Allan's book he shares are stories and insights into mental health aimed directly at men. Statistics show that both men and women suffer from mental illness equally but respond differently. Men seek help less often than women. Men refuse help because of an antiquated assumption that they must always remain strong.

  • Why has “toxic masculinity” been allowed to trickle down through the generations?
  • What are the new lessons of healthy masculinity being taught today?
  • How might we influence complex system work conditions so that an organization is ready and willing to change its cultural perceptions of mental health?

Allan Kehler, TEDX Talk Speaker, Mental Heath Advocate and owner of Out From the Shadows Consulting Inc.

Allan knows first-hand what it feels like to have lost his voice, and I also know what it feels like to have found it. He believes that the only reason why he is still here today is to carry a message. He knows that there are a lot of people who are suffering from the same or similar challenges that he faced.

It has become his life’s mission to share his story in the hope that it will shed a positive light on the journey of others. He speaks and writes about mental health in the hopes of empowering others to live an authentic, passionate and connected life.
