Part 1:
We speak with Lincoln Mitchell, Ph.D., who teaches at Columbia University.
We discuss the recent elections in the country of Georgia. It appears that older voters are more inclined to turn to authoritarianism, possibly because of the history with Russia. Streets have seen demonstrations by the populace against the "Georgian Dream" party, who are social conservatives. Younger voters want to join the EU. However, there are "minority entrepreneurs" who want to profit from disinformation campaigns that equate liberalism with chaos.
Part 2:
We speak with Jamie Rowen, Ph.D. and lawyer about Louisiana's recent law that classified abortion medication as dangerous drugs. This makes the possession of these drugs unlawful. This is aimed at stopping the transport of these drugs, and to confuse people, including doctors and pharmacists about the consequences of supplying these drugs, even with prescriptions. There is no science to show these drugs are dangerous or addictive. But it has a chilling effect on the potential users of the drugs.
