In the past, cybercriminals primarily targeted large conglomerates. However, with the rise in security breaches, it is evident that many hackers now aim to attack as many companies as possible, setting their sights on small and medium-sized businesses. What steps can SMBs take to protect their data better?

Michael Roth, an identity and access management solutions expert for managed service providers, understands that cybercriminals primarily target small and medium-sized businesses. These businesses are easy targets because they often have limited resources, weaker defenses, and are more likely to pay ransomware attackers. For this reason, he cautions small MSPs to avoid using SMS authentication. SMS is vulnerable to SIM jacking, which deceives the user and makes it easier for a hacker to take control of a person's phone. Although Michael is a proponent of passkeys because they provide a better user experience, many disadvantages are associated with the system, such as high costs, syncing functionality, and the involvement of third-party vendors. Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) is a more reliable platform that avoids the need for multifactor authentication.

In this episode of The Cyber Business Podcast with Matthew Connor, Michael Roth, Founder and CEO of Evo Security, shares how IAMs help MSPs. Michael discusses Evo Security and the services they offer, the difference between Evo and Duo, and Evo’s role in the future of security.
