You might not be able to see the purpose of everything right now.

And it makes being in this space very dark and unsettling. But if you can create a relationship with one small part of your life - one little object, one simple practice, one small piece of your garden - then, when you step back from your life you will be able to see everything is connected and deeply purposeful.

Just as if you spent time studying the details of a small leaf with only your fingertips, so too would you be able to step back and look at the entire forest to see thousands of leaves with the same intimate qualities.

An intimate and tender relationship with the small will allow you to see the great in everything.

Sometimes just looking at your life with only your eyes can leave you feeling empty and separate from it. Whereas kneeling down and getting into the soil and studying the details of just one beautiful thing in it - can suddenly connect you to something far greater than you ever expected.
