Early Childhood Educators

I put a meme up this week reading
“What level of support do you need?
AND I have titled our number 60 podcast it too.
A couple of things happened this week that I will share with you, that made me realise,
personally reflect on and share this important question!!
I got stuck
I really did have A MASIVE LIGHT BOLB MOMENT THIS WEEK WHICH I HAVE
TO SHARE but first let me explain…
I GOT STUCK
I FORGOT the support I have around me
I have amazing support,
A Partner, Husband, Tech team and online support
But I got so caught up in the moment and not knowing what to do that it took me a
couple of days to get over myself and ask for help.
I was trying to put a new payment system onto my website and it was too
hard too frustrating and well got me into such a tiss that I more or less had a giant melt down.
I know how to do it, I’ve done it before but I did the same thing over and over and it
didn’t work. It ended up being a tiny step that I had forgotten and a beautiful friend
found it, fixed it and helped me keep moving.
So I was discussing my melt down with my husband
And he said – NOW I KNOW HOW SOME EDUCATORS FEEL
AND – “ISN’T THAT WHY I HAVE BEEN CREATING MY PROGRAMS AND MY
LATEST EBOOK.
Sometime as educators we do get stuck, forgetting that we have those around us that
are quite capable and willing to help us!
Whether that be with children, reflective practice, programming, finding support we all
get stuck sometimes and we need to stop and work out how we are going to move
forward?

So here is our Critical Reflection Question

Have you been getting stuck lately?
It’s a bit of a funny question, what do I mean by stuck, I know everyones interpretation of
stuck is different.
It can be as simple as not knowing what to do next?
Feeling unsure or uncertain?
Working yourself into a bit of a tizz? OR
Having so many questions that you don’t actually make any?
But is there something you have been struggling with OR is it sometimes you really do
know what I mean when I share my story about getting stuck?

Your Challenge

Chat to someone that you have for support about the things that you are finding
challenging!!
And I know you are going to roll your eyes and say REALLY?
But sometimes we need a bit of a nudge, to be reminded to ask for help, to be given the
opportunity to seriously reflect on what has been going on right now, with us!!
Make a list of your challenges, it may be on a certain day, at a particular time, with a
certain someone.
Remember Reflective Practice is all about the questions we ask. Make them REAL. Make
them count. Make them recognise what is working and what is not. Then challenge
ourselves to TAKE ACTION.
OR
Get help to work out HOW!!
Check out Simple Reflect – The latest documenting tool for Educators
Now I have’t forgotten to share my huge lightbulb moment with you. It is over me
procrastinating to a point that I almost did not release my new book. It is 50 Reflective
Practices and it is an ebook to step early childhood educators through Reflective Practice
for a whole year.
But I didn’t want to just launch it out there into the internet it just didn’t feel like what I
had envisioned.
SO – When Lee said – I now know how you. as a stuck educator, felt the lightbulb went
on. I do this to support Educators, so that is what I will do.
Now some of you will need another avenue of support and some will not.
But take the time to decide.
My ah ha was a FREE 12 month support system to go with the 12 months of Reflective
Practice. Now as I already said – I have amazing support around me!! BUT so many don’t.

TOP TIP TIME

This is my little nudge to you – set your support up before you need it – find a new level if
you need it.
Take the time to recognise the support you have around you OR find some more if you
don’t.
We are Early Childhood Educators
We need to know we are supported
We need to have the level of support we need!!
So there is both a free mini ebook and a paid 50 Reflective Practice ebook
I have loved putting this together for you
I know you will love it
I want to show you that reflective practice is not something we need to get stresses
or stuck on. It is a way of giving ourselves that extra level of support
OR
the nudge, to find the new level of support we need.

I would love to hear from you

Kath
