Preeti Nair, better known as Preetipls, makes the tongue-in-cheek claim to be “Singapore's top influencer”. Behind her satirical approach to her content, Preeti is known to be outspoken on issues like racial justice. Who can forget the brownface saga of 2019 that left her in a messy situation with the law minister? 😳 When COVID-19 hit, a wave of anti-celebrity/influencer sentiments followed, but Preetipls stood out. She started Utopia.sg, a campaign that raised almost $200K for the migrant worker community most badly hit by the virus in Singapore, followed by "Miss Education", a video series on social issues back home.
On the first part of this two-part episode, Preeti candidly opens up about her life, using her influence for good, and if she truly is the “controversial queen” that some have affectionately (or not so affectionately) named her.
