Welcome and welcome back! Nii Ato and Lauren are here again, chatting about Viral PTSD (A.k.a. Vicarious Trauma) in episode 5. Listen in as we discuss and share how we cope with the perpetual bombardment of witnessing police brutality against people of color, especially black men. In this era of ubiquitous social media, the phenomenon of video going viral has created both awareness and collateral damage to the psyches of those who engage with it — for better or for worse. We break down Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the ‘What’s That Called Segment’, to give more depth to the residual effects of these viral videos. A listener reaches out and puts us on the spot about our own personal engagement with therapy and we give our candid experiences in the ‘On Second Thought’ segment. We keep it real and open up about all this and more this week! Enjoy and leave your comments, questions and reviews!
