Loneliness and isolation are unfortunately common in modern life. The suffering of isolation isn't just emotional, it can become systemic and lead to deeper disconnection and dysfunction.
Renee sites the work of bio-engineer and scientist Michael Levin who is studying how connection, even on a cellular level, is necessary for healthy functioning of the larger system. Great truths hold value on the macro and the micro levels. Connection to others and to larger systems which add meaning and purpose to our lives is a need, not just a luxury.
