I get asked all the time where I find the patterns for the quilts that I make. And how do I so consistently find quilt patterns that fit my "theme" or aesthetic when they are from such different designers. And the answer is that I've done the self analysis.
I know, I know. That sounds so extra. And no, it's not some deep version of guilty therapy. Instead, I suggest you start where all great art starts. Pinterest. Duh. Just start pinning. I suggest you start a board where you only pin quilt patterns that you like and would like to try one day.
Then take a step back and really find the commonality in the patterns you chose. Do you prefer traditional blocks? What about color?
Then I want you to find a fabric designer you love. And check out the quilt patterns that they've created to go with their fabric lines. Do you see where I'm going with this?
It's all about exploration. But I love this exercise because not only will you figure out your favorite quilt pattern designers, but you'll find out your quilting aesthetic, your favorite fabric designers, and so much more. This a quilty education rabbit hole and I hope you explore it!
