The Medical Student Performance Evaluation or MSPE, previously known as the Dean's Letter, is an important part of the residency application. In a recent survey of over 1,200 program directors representing 24 specialties, over 80% of programs cited the MSPE as a factor used to make interview decisions. To put this in context, only two other criteria - the USMLE Step 1 score and letters of recommendation - were used more often than the MSPE to decide whom to interview.
Join Drs. Rajani Katta and Samir Desai as they discuss the MSPE in more depth. You'll learn when this important document is developed, how it's written, and the type of content that is included. You'll also learn how you can take an active role in shaping your own MSPE so that the final document produced serves you well in the residency selection process.
