Hey there, surfers and beachgoers! Let's dive into the rad surf forecast for California courtesy of the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard.
For the Malibu Coast and Los Angeles County Beaches, we're looking at a beach hazards statement through Sunday with a high rip current risk. This afternoon through Saturday, expect surf heights between 3 to 6 feet, highest on south and southwest facing beaches. There's a mixed south swell and west swell combination happening. Thunderstorms aren't expected, and water temperatures range from 61 to 70 degrees. On Sunday, similar conditions persist with 3 to 5 feet surf heights.
Ventura County Beaches are also under a beach hazards statement with a high rip current risk through Sunday. Surf heights will be around 3 to 6 feet, peaking on south and southwest facing beaches. The water temperature is cooler, between 61 to 63 degrees. Expect a mixed south swell and west swell.
Moving on to Santa Barbara County, particularly the southwestern and southeastern coast, we've got lower surf heights of 1 to 3 feet with a low rip current risk this afternoon through Saturday. Similar conditions are expected for Sunday.
Lastly, San Luis Obispo County Beaches and Santa Barbara Central Coast Beaches will see surf heights between 3 to 6 feet this afternoon through Saturday. Water temperatures range from 53 to 60 degrees, with a mix of west swell and south swell.
Remember, the rip current risks can change, so stay informed and stay safe out there! And hey, don't forget the sunscreen and your board shorts. Catch some awesome waves and have a blast!
