James Gagliano is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and a US Army veteran who served 25-years with the FBI as an undercover agent investigating organized crime. James also served with the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team, the Bureau's elite counter-terror unit where he was deployed to Afghanistan three times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. James would later go on to lead the FBI's New York Division SWAT Team and head up the Bureau's Crisis Management Center in New York where he had oversight of the SWAT Program, Crisis Negotiation, the Special Agent Bomb Technicians, and the Hazardous Materials Response Team. In this episode, James Gagliano is back on the podcast to discuss his history with the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team and his assignment as leader of the New York SWAT team, including how he helped shape the NY unit into the top SWAT team in the country. We also explore James' philosophy on leadership, where many leaders go wrong, the crucial difference between demanding respect and commanding respect, the 3 Cs of transcendent leadership, and the enigma inherent when leading "in extremis." - Links: James Gagliano: www.jamesagagliano.com Twitter: @JamesAGagliano The Value Of The Letter “C” In Organizational Leadership: https://bit.ly/2UtXGUy
