In case you missed it, I spent about 17 months rehabbing chronic back pain with the help of my coach, David Sluss. Back in November of 2022, I brought David on the podcast to talk about our personal journeys with back pain and some lessons learned along the way and this has been the most popular episode on the podcast to date. I think a huge reason why is because back pain is almost universal. Sadly it’s one of the most commonly cited pains I hear about in the fitness space yet because it’s so common it’s become almost accepted as a fact of life.

Since this is such a common issue, I decided to bring David back onto the podcast for us to expand upon the topic of back pain and cover things we didn’t cover on the first episode.

  • The common causes of back pain
  • Misconceptions about mobility and flexibility (and what you should be doing)
  • Is group fitness more prone to back pain?
  • What to do if you have back pain and/or are going through a flare up
  • Fact or Fiction: Your doctor tells you that if you have back pain you should stop lifting
  • Fact or Fiction: Your PT tells you your back pain is because your glutes don't fire
  • Fact or Fiction: You cannot exercise with a rounded spine
  • Discuss: How does the use of PEDs in sport and recovery impact our perceptions on pain and recovery?

If you're struggling with back pain and you're looking for advice, guidance, or a rehab program reach out to David Sluss
