Wondering what are the challenges of starting a media company in an era where censorship and media bias seem to be at an all-time high?

In this episode of The Business Ownership Podcast I interviewed Rob Driscoll. He is a prolific writer of opinion and humour columns, and even writes in third person on occasion ;)
Rob has been publishing Business Edge News Magazine for more than two decades, and recently restructured the company to include a wide range of marketing services (podcasts, content development, thought-leadership positioning, advertising, social media posting, and more).
When COVID hit North America in 2020, Rob put the magazine on hiatus, and suddenly found time to do a lot of reading and writing.
He searched all over the Internet for accurate news coverage of COVID but found only sensationalism and cherry picking. Many people close to him were getting swept up in the hysteria, so Rob started publishing posts on various social media platforms to help those in his networks better understand what was actually going on.
Focused on verifiable government data and logic, Rob's posts in April 2020 would start to go viral and then disappear.
That is when he decided to launch BIG Media Ltd. (BIG-Media.ca). On February 8, 2021, a team of accomplished scientists and introduced a new style of journalism that focused on facts and logic, eschewing the standard practices of sensationalism and using expert testimony to validate whatever theory a reporter or editor might come up with.
When Rob and his team first started publishing articles that added critical context regarding COVID, climate change, and other big issues, he was met with a relentless barrage of personal and professional attacks. Less than three years later, the critics have almost all disappeared, and BIG-Media.ca has become a highly trusted source of news on the most important matters.
