There’s a certain cost of transportation that you just can’t beat, calculating Total Cost of Ownership. Paying more than that for something special (for example, a magnificent Alfa Romeo Giulia) can be worth it, but when you look at the upcharge for the QV, the cost is staggering.
The explanation is a combination of the car’s depreciation, but also more likely manufacturer-sponsored lease incentives, which can hugely benefit the lease customer. So when should you lease? When should you buy? And when should you buy used?
In this episode, Carmudgeons Derek and Jason discuss different ways of looking at investing your money in cars — and why a calculated, expected loss is absolutely fine. So long as you’re getting enough pleasure from the car.
