When I sat down with retired pastor Sheila Bishop, I couldn't help but feel inspired by her journey of being "lured" back into ministry. What started as a visit to a small church with only five active members transformed into a beautiful story of connection, community, and sustainability. Join us as we discuss how Sheila's focus on fostering relationships led to a growing and thriving congregation, reminiscent of Jesus' ministry methods.
In our conversation, Sheila shares how her efforts to build a community-centered church ultimately brought two congregations together – her own and a local Christian Methodist Episcopal church. Together, they adopted a covenant for open communication and a sense of belonging. We also explore the importance of standing up to bullying behavior in a calm and non-anxious way, and the journey to self-care for ministry leaders. Don't miss this heartfelt episode filled with valuable lessons on creating a truly connected and compassionate church.
