It's natural to have dreams and goals for ourselves, but sometimes those aspirations can turn into unrealistic expectations that leave us feeling defeated and discouraged. When we hold ourselves to unrealistic standards, we're more likely to become overwhelmed and frustrated when we don't meet expectations. We might even give up on our dreams altogether because we feel like we're not good enough. As a positive psychologist, I've seen how unrealistic expectations can hold people back and cause unnecessary stress and anxiety.
