Summary:
Prendick is joined by Montgomery in his room to lunch, and he asks Montgomery where he has heard the name Moreau before, and when finally alone, Prendick asks why his attendant has pointed ears. At all of these questions Montgomery seems frustrated, and surprised. He feigns stupidity, and soon after, a large animal's cry is heard from the door behind them. At this, Montgomery winces, and tries to move the conversation forward, but their lunch is constantly interrupted with the cries of the Puma in the next room.
