The Everyday Jiu Jitsu Podcast Ep 61: Kuzushi
Manage episode 424404965 series 3488541
Kuzushi is one of the most crucial principles in grappling (and in fighting). This principle was popularized by Jigoro Kano, the founder of Kodokan Judo. Kano was a firm believer that if you want to effectively attack your opponent with techniques, you must first attack their stance. The idea of Kuzushi is to first break your opponent’s body positioning, and then attack within this short window of vulnerability before they can recover a strong defensive positioning. In this episode, I discuss what a broken stance looks like, how to attack someone’s stance from different positions, and how you can better train this skill.
