In the latest episode of The Flip N' Shift Podcast, my guests are David and Kaitlyn Beiser.

David and Kaitlyn Beiser of Atlas Strength and Wellness.

David Beiser is a corrective exercise specialist and is a trained C.H.E.K (Stands for Corrective Exercise and High-performance Kinesiology) Practitioner. Kaitlyn is a Certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM-EP) and Certified Transition Lifestyle Solutions nutrition & wellness coach.

A Corrective Exercise Specialist is an expert in human movement assessment. David can accurately analyze a client's movement patterns, identify overactive and under active muscle groups and compensations. Corrective Exercise is imperative in identifying and addressing imbalances that cause posture, stability, and mobility issues.

Their mission is to guide and educate people to reach the next pinnacle in their fitness and health journey. Atlas Strength and Wellness encompasses a blend of holistic lifestyle coaching, corrective exercise and soft tissue release techniques with strength & conditioning in order to improve each client's quality of life.

We all know the expression no pain no gain. But is that really the best approach to achieving your health and fitness goals? Science is telling us that not all exercises work for everybody. Sprain and Strain is the most common injury in exercise. It can cause acute and chronic issues in the body which can be painful, costly and emotionally devastating. In this episode, we will be discussing how to prevent strain and pain in exercise.

Julie Walz discussing topics on strains and sprains with Kaitlyn and David Beiser. "What should we understand about sprains, strains and pain recovery for clients?" asked Julie "We tell people, "Pain is the last thing to arrive and the first thing to go." said Kaitlyn. Behavioral addiction to exercise is also a real thing – many want to add to the exercise program or train harder than what we recommend.

Other challenges that are hard to admit include a sense of insecurity, loss of emotional validation or self-esteem since they cannot work, exercise, or participate in sport to the same degree, explained David."

Julie asks "We all go to the gym and follow online exercise regimens that seem to be one size fits all approach. Which often is the wrong approach to exercise. You are educating clients on how to be intentional and less reactionary with exercise. Can you further explain this approach?"

David explains intentional exercise, "Yes, it’s really about awareness and intention. In essence, people need to exercise for their unique situation and body type. We start with specific assessments in two areas 1) physical and 2) lifestyle or wellness.

The purpose is to help us design a better program and coach more specifically, but more importantly it raises the awareness in a person so they can be more intentional in their choices."
