Difficult People | Week 2 [Daniel Roach] The Downers Job is a remarkable story about how to suffer Job is Down But Not a Downer Job 1:21; 2:10 - The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised...shall we accept good from God and not the trouble? 1 - It's Okay To Be Down 2 - Call In Help Job 2:11-13 Who Are We Listening To? Ecclesiastes 7:5 - It is better to heed the rebuke of a wise person than to listen to the song of fools. Proverbs 15:31 - Listen to good advice if you want to live well... Constructive Criticism Proverbs 15:31-32 NLT - If you listen to constructive criticism, you will be at home among the wise. If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding. 3 - Trust In His Plan Job complains God is silent and distant - Job 13:3 We are not in control God Speaks - Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me. Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know!...Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years! [Job 38:2-5; 21] Job Speaks - I am unworthy - how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer - twice, but I will say no more. [Job 40:4] God Speaks - Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm:“Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me." [Job 40:6-7] Job Speaks - I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted…Surely I spoke of things I didn't not understand, things too wonderful for me to know….My ears have heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. There I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes. [Job 42:2-6] Shaped By The Pain Job 42:12 - The Lord blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the first.
