Jeet Heer then dives right into the wild Newsweek that saw a literal presidential assassination get somewhat overshadowed, first unpacking the RNC’s focus on the celebration of one man (Donald Trump), before shifting to Trump’s VP pick of J.D. Vance, and his backing of the biggest threats to democracy in Big Tech’s billionaires. Heer, Sam, and Emma then walk through the myriad major developments in Biden’s 2024 candidacy that occurred this week, and have an extensive conversation on Biden’s evident resentment of the establishment and the role of AOC and progressives in backing him, before wrapping up the interview by assessing the Kamala Harris of it all, from her likelihood to win the Presidency to the possibility of her losing the nomination.
