Fear Versus Your Dreams

If you believe in your fears, you're never going to achieve your dreams. So, why do so many people give so much power to their fears?

Matt 6:33 - But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

2 Timothy 1:7 - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

We struggle with fear because we give too much power to the natural forces at play in our life. We must learn to break through these struggles if we want to eventually add value to this world and those around us.

Strengthen your "No Muscle" by exercising it regularly. Learn to say no to the temptations which aren't beneficial to your life. Just because you can have something doesn't mean you should.

If you never learn to say no, you'll avoid struggle and never get stronger.

How Trade Wars Affect Your Investments.

We're hearing a lot of discussions lately about tariffs and potential trade wars. Is this something you should be fearful about or is it a topic which is being overly politicized?

Most of the discussion we hear about trade wars and tariffs are based on trading patterns of the past but trading is changing and it will likely change significantly in the coming years.

A large portion of the market movement you're seeing right now is based on hype and politics. If you're heavily invested in Equities and Bonds you may want to reevaluate how your portfolio is structured in these times.

What Bill Gates Doesn't Need to Know

Ellen DeGeneres recently had Bill Gates play a fun game on the show, asking him what he thought some common household groceries may cost. He didn't do very well...

Grocery prices probably aren't something Bill Gates needs to concern himself with in order to be of value to those he serves. The cost of food and household items isn't going to impact his day to day living and overall net worth.

For the rest of us, the cost of items can have a big impact on our wealth, in particular, the cost of our investments.

Make sure you're talking to an experienced adviser who can show you how to reduce the cost of your financial activities.

Why Fed Interest Rates Aren't Changing CD Rates

The Federal Reserve has increased interest rates 5 times in the past year. So, why aren't we seeing a corresponding increase in the rate we're earning on investments like Certificates of Deposit?

Always remember, banks are a business and businesses exist to do one thing... make money.

Banks make money by lending money at a higher rate than they pay for that money. When you buy a Certificate of Deposit, the interest you earn is the cost a bank pays to use your money.

Banks also buy money from the Federal Reserve and that's still cheaper for them even after the recent increases in rates. That's why your CD rate isn't going up yet.

A lot of people are losing money safely by sticking to these types of investments.
