Streets for Kids with Anna Siprikova, Global Designing Cities Initiative

In this Back to School episode, we interview Anna Siprikova – a global leader in designing safer streets for kids and families. Anna is Senior Program Manager for the Global Designing Cities Initiative (GDCI), where she works with communities around the world to implement GDCI’s Streets for Kids program.
Since 2018, Streets for Kids has partnered with over 30 cities to improve the lives of kids in cities through. They work to inspire leaders, inform practitioners, and empower communities to understand cities through the lens of children and their caregivers and to take action on their streets to ensure a cleaner, healthier, and safer future.
In this episode, Greg Rogers and Greg Rodriguez speak with Anna about:
- Designing Streets for Kids: GDCI’s guidance document captures international best practices, strategies, programs, and policies that cities around the world have used to design spaces that enable children of all ages and abilities to utilize cities’ most abundant asset – streets. (Download here)
- Seeing the world through kids' eyes: Streets for Kids developed an innovative new way to help people see streets through the eyes of children. Read more on GDCI’s website: “Streets feel a lot different when you’re only 95cm tall. Like any kind of infrastructure, kids experience streets differently than adults and have unique needs when it comes to safety and access.”
