For the final instalment of our Boxing theme, we explore the raw and powerful film, A Prayer Before Dawn. Directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, the movie follows the true story of Billy Moore, a young British boxer who finds himself incarcerated in one of Thailand's most notorious prisons.

Starring Joe Cole in a tour-de-force performance as Moore, the film immerses us in the brutal reality of prison life and the dangerous world of Muay Thai boxing, which Moore must learn in order to survive. The film is shot with a visceral and immersive style, making us feel as if we are right there with Moore as he navigates the harsh and unforgiving environment.

Throughout the episode, we examine the themes of redemption, resilience, and survival that run throughout the film. We also discuss the impressive physical and emotional transformation that Cole underwent to play the role of Moore, as well as the supporting performances from the talented Thai cast.

Join us as we explore the impact and significance of A Prayer Before Dawn, a film that challenges us to confront the harsh realities of life while also inspiring us with the strength and determination of the human spirit.

RAPHAEL LECAT is an actor; some would say thespian, some would say clown; others would say human golden retriever (and by some, he means himself...) Raphael was born in France to French parents but quickly became a third-culture kid after his family moved to Singapore. This is where he discovered his passion for theatre and decided to make it his mission in life to be a vessel for stories old and new through the craft of acting.
