Erika shares personal stories of her upbringing in Spain and political turmoil in the Basque region. It definitely had an impact on her perspective and who she is today. Erika Gonzalez is an Associate Professor at RMIT University and she is the Program Manager of the Higher Education Translating and Interpreting degrees. Currently, Erika is the Immediate Past President of the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators. Under her leadership, the Institute developed the National Protocols for Community Translations that were drafted in partnership with the Federation of Ethnic Communities of Australia and supported by the Department of Health and Aging.

Erika firmly believes that quality translation services are paramount in multilingual societies like ours, in order to achieve equity and cohesion.

Erika is a NAATI certified translator and interpreter as well and a senior fellow of Advance Higher Education, a UK based organization focused on providing quality tertiary education.
