August 21, 2023 - Today’s episode of The Omnibus Show will feature producer/engineer and entertainment industry podcaster, Jay Franze.
Growing up, Franze knew he wanted to work in music. He wanted to be in a rock band, but couldn’t sing or play an instrument well. He still wanted to be in the music industry, so he went to school and became an audio engineer.
In this podcast, hear about his life in Boston and Cincinnati as a freelance engineer and how it led to his successful career as a producer. He headed to New York where he had a studio built completely to his standards. After a time, he decided he wanted to take it further, so he headed to Nashville to work.
Franze Discusses his education at SAE (School of Audio Engineering) and his work with veteran producer Bob Bullock after finding his name on a Shania Twain CD. He discusses a large project for many classic artists including Jerry Lee Lewis, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams and more.
Franze talks about pranks in the studios and fun experiences with entertainers such as Travis Tritt. “I was making sure everything was set up at a studio in Nashville. Travis Tritt walks in and remembered me from years before. He says, ‘Hey Jay. I didn’t know you were working on this project. Is there a quiet place I can go write this song?’ I asked what song? He replied, ‘The song we’re gonna record today!’”
Franze gives advice for young engineers who want to get into music engineering today. His networking advice for engineers is gold.

And, Franze discusses his three podcasts that give inside stories from the entertainment world and leaders.

He has three podcasts, but his main one is The Jay Franze Show.
