August 28, 2023 - Today’s episode of The Omnibus Show will feature The International Center’s Martin Baier and Peter Kirkwood.

Martin Baier is the President and CEO of The International Center and the Honorary Consul of France to Indiana. Baier joined The Center in 2011, and served the organization as Vice President of Programs and Services until he assumed the position of President and CEO in 2017. He also serves as Honorary Consul of France to Indiana.

Born and raised in Germany, Baier served 22 years in the German Air Force (GAF), ultimately achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel. His assignments and liaison functions took him to several European countries and North America. During his military career he obtained his bachelors and master’s degrees in Military Science (aviation and business). In addition, he attended the University of Duisburg and Essen in Germany where he earned a bachelor’s joint degree in economics, business, English and cultural studies.

After his move to Indiana, and before joining The International Center, Baier formed his own business, All German Solutions LLC, to provide project and program management, as well as cross-cultural training. Baier currently serves as a board member of Alliance Francaise, the Indiana India Business Council, and Global Ties U.S. He is also active in the greater Indianapolis community, and he serves on advisory committees of several local organizations.

Peter Kirkwood joined The International Center in 2007 and serves as The Center's Chief of Protocol. His role spans advising leaders on international dignitary visits and preparing delegations for overseas trips. As a Cultural Intelligence (CQ®) Certified Facilitator, Kirkwood directs intercultural communication workshops for global business and local diversity initiatives.

Kirkwood aids Indiana communities through exchange programs as the Indiana State Representative of Sister Cities International. He is also an alumni advisor to the Department of Modern Languages at Ball State University where he studied Japanese, Anthropology, and Linguistics. He is a Certified Protocol Professional having received his credentials through the International Society of Protocol and Etiquette Professionals and is a member of the Protocol and Diplomacy International - Protocol Officers Association.
