February 17th is the beginning of the licence free family fishing weekend. There are a number of events planned, including the Island Lake ice fishing derby in Orangeville. Yasmine Slater is the Park Superintendent for Island Lake and she will have all the details, including what’s on the $2500 prize table.

As mentioned last week, the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is proposing to close the hunting and trapping season for wolves and coyotes, over a large area of Central and Northern Ontario. Robin Horwath from the Ontario Fur Managers Federation, will join Angelo with his thoughts on this proposal. Danielle Lemieux from Saenchiur Flechey Resort on the West Arm of Lake Nipissing, is the ‘Go Fish in Ontario’ guest. What a beautiful cottage resort for ice fishermen and snowmobilers.

Why do so many veterinarians suffer mental health issues? Is the dream of helping the cuddly animals a myth? Dr. Marie Holowaychuk has the alarming
statistics and shares her views with Angelo. She also had a neat tip for safe travel with your dog in a vehicle.
