This is the Mother’s Day edition of the Outdoor Journal Radio Show! What do you have planned for mom?
Anne Roman from Cooper Tire will be hiking with the kids, her favourite activity for her Mother’s Day. Anne and the crew at Cooper Tire work with the schools near their manufacturing facilities to introduce students to the high tech world of manufacturing, and the Cooper commitment to green products and processes.
Wil Wegman from Aurora Bassmasters will run a seminar in Stroud on May 17th. The topic is “Fishing Lake Simcoe.” The lake is the 4th largest waterbody solely in the province, and it has a prolific fishery with 1.6 million angler days each year. The seminar is supported by the Town of Innisfil and Simcoe County Tourism. They get it…this is big business for the region. Wil and Angelo have stories to share about this great fishery.
On the Go Fish in Ontario Segment, Mike Drenth suggests that Angelo get comfortable on the deck of his houseboat, as he fishes on Lake Temagami. Have you thought of a houseboat rental for the fishing trip or the summer vacation? Leisure Island Houseboat Rentals offer an attractive package that will make your trip weather and bug friendly.
Campfires, barbecues, camp stoves and the cottage stove will be in full operation on the Victoria Day weekend. With volatile fuels there are some big risks if you make mistakes. Gary Laframboise is the President of the Ontario Municipal Fire
Prevention Officers Association, and he has some advice to avoid tragic mistakes as we enjoy our holidays.
Dr. Vett Lloyd from Mount Allison University joins Angelo to talk about working with the Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation.
