Not only is it a new year (CHEERS to 2024), but we also have our very first guest on the podcast today!

We’re talking with Paige Genova, a licensed occupational therapist specializing in pelvic floor therapy, all about whole-person wellness in pelvic health. Paige is a fellow mama, clinician, and business owner/founder of Vital Pelvic Health. We first connected with her through a business mentorship group, which led to us meeting together in person last year.

In today’s episode, we’re digging into what the roles look like for both physical therapists and occupational therapists in pelvic floor therapy, the critical part psychology plays when treating pelvic health patients, beneficial approaches to successfully treat pelvic health patients (but maybe aren’t the first ‘go-to’ when doing so), and more.

Pelvic floor therapy is definitely a complex specialty, but we are capable of doing SO much good in this space - especially when we’re able to learn from and collaborate with each other. Paige is truly a wealth of knowledge, and she’s passionate about the work she is doing to support her patients using a whole-person approach. We know you’re going to love hearing and learning from Paige, because she is doing BIG things in the world!

In this episode about whole-person wellness with physical and occupational therapy, we cover:

  • Paige’s journey to becoming an occupational therapist (OT), and her decision to eventually pursue and pivot into pelvic health therapy
  • The concept of ‘POTS’, and the main difference between having a pelvic health occupational therapist vs. pelvic health physical therapist
  • How psychology plays a major role when treating pelvic health patients
  • Other beneficial (and often underutilized) approaches for treating pelvic health patients
  • An important, missing component in the current pelvic health space
  • Why ‘dabbling’ in pelvic health therapy isn’t the best idea for you or your patients
