2018 has certainly been an up and down year in the world of Philly sports. From the Eagles winning the Super Bowl to an injury plagued team who can't get out of their own way. From a Sixers team who still doesn't know what kind of player the 2017 No. 1 pick in the draft, Markelle Fultz, is, to a Phillies team who's looking to make some huge noise in free agency. This week, we did our first ever mailbag show as we start winding down the 2018 year. Topics of discussion we got into via our listeners:
– The new Phillies logo,
– Sixers, Lakers, Suns trade involving Fultz, Ariza and Caldwell-Pope,
– Changing one event in the history of Philly sports,
– Penalties for NFL teams who are accused and convicted of domestic violence,
– Chase Utley helping the Dodgers in the offseason,
– Eagles might just beat the Rams,
– AND, our Philly sports hot takes for the coming 2019 year.
On the Table, Steph Driver, cohost of the BSH Radio podcast, Manager of BroadStreetHockey.com and NHL Manager for SB Nation, joined us for a discussion about the Philadelphia Flyers as the team and front office continue to search for an identity. Is a "win now" mentality really a possibility with this team as Chuck Fletcher looks to reshape the team with his own vision? We also got into a discussion about goalies Fletcher might target this season and in the 2019 offseason. Are the Flyers and their veterans an emotionally weak team? Brent Flahr's scouting abilities moving forward were also part of our discussion with Steph, as well as what developmental prospects are most intriguing to her. Plus much more this week on the Table!
