If you’ve been with us for the past two episodes, you know that we have covered the first two parts of our three-legged stool of business: “Sell work, do work, and keep score.” Selling work consists of your lead generation, sales, and pre-qualification processes. In doing the work, consistent communication in every part of the job is a key factor in your production process to protect your profit. Today we tackle the third part; what does it mean to “keep score”? Keeping score is how you look at your financial reports from a job and determine if you made money. Join us for a closer look with Dave and John!

What you’ll hear in this episode:

  • John breaks down his CRM and how he tracks the numbers for each job with a pre-job budget and a post-job assessment.
  • Acquisition costs–what they really are and why most contractors don’t understand them and underestimate them

  • Reducing acquisition costs and increasing overall profitability through referrals

  • John’s example from a current Peach State Roofing job and their “8 by 8 campaign”

  • Better brand recognition, premium prices, and superior value are your goals.

  • Referral programs can work!

  • Reviews are important for your SEO and establishing trust; John shares how Peach State Roofing is getting reviews.

  • How Company Cam makes the review and referral process easy with a follow-up for every job

  • Job costing helps you know if you made money or not.

  • Every dollar saved in budget planning adds up (Saving $500 each on 100 jobs=$50,000 profit!)

  • Understanding your monthly financial statements is everything for a business owner.
