Hello and welcome all to Episode 9. S.W.A.N (Sikh Women Action Network) - Domestic Violence & Abuse.

S.W.A.N is a community based organisation involving a small number of women from the Sikh community across the Birmingham, Sandwell, Walsall regions in the UK. These women have reached positions in business, public and voluntary sectors and have strong links with the community.

The founders of SWAN share a common ambition and have therefore set up an organisation to tackle the negative impact of cultural influences, and specifically where this influence can lead to the exploitation of women.

In this episode we catch up with Sahdaish Pall (Chair) and Councillor Narinder Kaur Kooner (Vice Chair), both founders of S.W.A.N who provide a support network for women and victims of of abuse. They provide;

• one to one support for victims of Domestic Abuse, Child Sexual Exploitation, Grooming & Honour Based Violence

• a support network and guidance for socially and economically disadvantaged women

• a forum for women to engage in dialogue to discuss challenges and issues facing them.
