18. What You Really Need to Know About the Cascade of Interventions

Have you ever looked back at an experience in your life and wondered how one decision led to a downhill spiral? This is exactly how one intervention in the natural birth process can lead to a birth experience that isn’t aligned with what you were wanting.
In this episode, I discuss the cascade of interventions and what role it plays in the birthing process. The cascade of interventions typically begins with a small disruption to the natural labor process. Then it turns into a series of events that can change the entire course of your birth experience. This waterfall effect can often leave you feeling powerless, defeated and out of control of your birth experience.
Pregnancy and birth are such critical and sacred times in your life as a mother and woman and you should feel empowered throughout the entire process. I encourage you to look beyond simple decisions by asking questions, doing research, and using your voice to gain a grounded sense of self and confidence in decision-making for you and your baby.
