This week's episode of The Sunday Shakeout is not as much content-based as it is a called-to-action. So often we runners get caught in the numbers, the trends, what everybody else is doing. We get swayed by training methods of others, refusing to admit the fact that it is not working for us as individuals. Furthermore, we runners often lose our own sense of intuition and our ability to think for ourselves in training. We solely make decisions about training based on the scientific literature. Does that mean we shouldn't trust science? Does that mean we should completely disregard concrete scientific training principles? Of course NOT. We should always be striving for new knowledge. But at the same time we runners need to be using a combination of our own judgement and intuition, as well as concrete scientific principles to find what works best for every runner as an individual. It is about finding that balance. The best results in running are found by training in a way that works for you. I hope you enjoy this episode of The Sunday Shakeout

In this episode, I talk about:

  • Science vs. real-world application
  • My personal experience in training, especially with the details of long runs
  • A fun little story about a guy who figured out how to breed the best results with seemingly skeptical training
  • And some advice that you can use and apply to your own training

Thank you so much to all of my listeners for the support!
