The Things She Does

Aniah Azmi is an ophthalmologist, university lecturer, mom of 3 and wife. She is passionate about saving and restoring people's vision, and teaching and sharing her experiences.

Aniah's road to become an eye surgeon was long. She started her ophthalmology training while 4 months pregnant with her first child and proceeded to have two more children while studying. While this may sound daunting, Aniah credits her hard work, positive thinking and supportive family. Her husband cheers her on and she has the help of her mother-in-law as well as some hired help.

My chat with Aniah had so many highlights, but one thing I truly loved was hearing about her typical day. She gets up early, prays, writes in her gratitude journal, exercises, puts in a long day at work then comes home to cook dinner for her family. She lives on the other side of the world, is part of a different culture and religion... and yet our two days are nearly identical. It was such a great reminder that we all have so much more in common than what divides us.

Some of the things Aniah does NOT do includes cleaning her house and doing her laundry. While she does have the help of a maid/nanny with many things in her home, she feels strongly about cooking food for her family because she believes her love is in the food.
