021 - Been Here Before
Manage episode 317180188 series 2995526
“My mom always told me to keep life as simple as a #2 pencil. Now, I’m paying the price for erasing her advice.” - Johnnie Williams III
Like the news we read, lots of the experiences we face or confront in life are repeated over and over.
-Relationship trouble
-Emotional stress
-Addictive situation/substances
-Decisions that must be made
All of these things, we’ve been through before and are still here – to bear witness that we are enough to get through it again. My mother was suggesting with this particular thought that we as a society can write chaos and confusion into our own life stories or something more pleasant and positive as long as we keep things simple.
In this season 2 episode, I also share a 5-point analogy using a pencil that you don’t want to miss.
- Shed the unnecessary things
- Sharpen yourself daily
- Don’t break what cannot be fixed
- You can’t erase very much
- Re-sharpen yourself when getting dull
Ask Yourself:
What does your mom advise you to do, but you didn’t listen?
What if any were the consequences as a result?
