When life is beating you up and you decide to hit back… Make sure it’s not your loved ones catching your punches. “ - Johnnie Williams III
With so much of our lives saddled with responsibility, I want a more focus upon our emotional responsibilities to manage and conduct ourselves in a suitable manner for cohabitation.
Statements like:
“I’m sorry” “I didn’t mean to be mean” “I was just mad" “I’ll try to do better” “I didn’t mean it" get old really fast. And love and respect shouldn’t be challenged to ignore these and many more lapses and personal accountability.
But...
-parents do it
-Siblings do it
-husbands and wives do it
-Boyfriends and girlfriends do it
-Best friends and friends do it to
How often do you engage with your loved ones in a verbally or physically aggressive manner?
Why is it that these folks (maybe we are the folks) struggle to find the confidence to face the root cause of their real frustrations?
Where does this suggest that Love should be tested in such a way for us to endure this type of treatment for the sake and preservation of it?
It’s time we better play the cards we’ve been dealt in such a way we better ACE the situations. This can be managed by:
A... awareness of our emotional struggles
C... control over the things we say to others
E... esteem to pull through instead of pulling others down.
We live in a country with major issues and many tragedies that resort from domestic violence amongst loved ones. Does that make any sense? Taking personal responsibility doesn’t mean being perfect – but it does require that you steward over your energy at all times.
ASK YOURSELF:
1) In what ways have you taking out your anger on a loved one or someone close to you?
2) Why did you choose to release your frustrations on them?
