Two movies titled The Snowman enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau watch the worst movie of 2017 — and an animated movie from the ’80s that made Robert cry — to determine which should be called The Snowman.
We might still have another month before 2017 is over, but the first movie is doing its darnedest to claim the worst movie of 2017 title. Starring Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, and a dubbed Val Kilmer, this should have been a simple murder mystery tale from a Scandinavian country. Unfortunately, according to the director, they didn’t film about 10 percent of the book and kind of pieced together most of the plot. This leaves the audience with tons of questions and beautiful shots of Norway. And just because the killer made snowmen as a calling card isn’t enough to earn this title.
The second movie is a cartoon from 1982 about a boy who builds a snowman that comes to life. What should have been a quick watch evoked serious nostalgia in Robert, mainly from the haunting theme song. While Herman wasn’t the same blubbering mess as Robert, he agreed the movie at least had a snowman as the main character, giving it at the very least an excuse to seize the title.
But what movie is good enough to call itself The Snowman? Listen if you dare.
