SUMMARY
On today’s podcast we have Kate Dolan. Kate is a Professor of Public Health at the University of New South Wales. She has carried out over 100 studies, has published over 270 publications.and has received over $39 million in research funding. She is the author of the recent book, ‘Beating Drug Addiction in Tehran’ which is focused on her journey of establishing the first methadone women’s clinic for female drug users in Iran.
What I personally love about this conversation is Kate’s proof of courage, tenacity and the fulfilment of opportunity. Kate is one inspirational woman who has clearly made and continues to make a significant impact in this world when it comes to public health. We discuss the mindset of commitment, the ability in seeing projects through despite large obstacles, she shares emotive stories of women from the clinic in Iran, and how her direct experiences challenged her assumption of Iran and its people that has now developed new insights. We also discuss Kate’s involvement in starting the first needle and syringe program in Australia, which was the third in the world. Kate is certainly a woman that is not afraid to dream big and achieve big goals.
