Dave Yocum and Kelly Yocum are both great trailer editors. And, yes, they're related - Dave is Kelly's dad. Dave is a legendary editor, producer, creative director at Create Advertising Group. He’s responsible for some of the most admired trailers of all time including the 300 Trailer and the Bohemian Rhapsody Teaser. He’s also known for creating most of the Harry Potter trailers as well as campaigns for films like Benjamin Button, the Matrix and A Beautiful Mind. Kelly Yocum is a rising star editor at JAX under the banner of Rock, Paper, Scissors. She has some pretty killer finishes including the trailer for BORAT SUBSEQUENT MOVIE FILM and some really cool pieces for HBO like the teaser for The Undoing and Euphoria. We explore what it was like working on some of the projects, how trailer editing has evolved, the value of having great mentors and how they each developed their process among many other topics.
