An evening devotional with pastors Jonathan Malone and Charley Eastman. Tonight’s conversation: protest!

Here is the prayer that Jonathan read:

O Lord, thou art the eternal order of the universe. Our human laws at best are but an approximation of thine immutable law, and if our institutions are to stand, they must rest on justice, for only justice can endure.

We pray thee for those who amid all the knowledge of our day are still without knowledge; for those who hear not the sighs of the children that toil, nor the sobs of such as are wounded because others have made haste to be rich; for those that struggle vainly against poverty and vice. Arouse them, we beseech thee, from their selfish comfort and grant them the grace of social repentance.

- Walter Rauschenbusch (1861-1918)
