Author, Kerry Nietz, will be joining us for an interview. He is the famous author of “Amish Vampires in Space.” Kerry Nietz is getting all kinds of recognition since Jimmy Fallon mentioned his book and held up a copy of the book during an episode of “The Tonight Show.” Here is twenty second clip!
Elevate:
Elevate was a church retreat Erik went on as the leader for his juniors in high school. As you will see, this was a very deep weekend. The topic was “Sermon on the Mount” and discovering your inner-self. During the retreat, Drew Hilderbrand lead a Prayer Election Class at Elevate. The exercise is to become one with Jesus. Along with that, this technique will help find your inner-self.
This is based on Jesus sermon on the mount and can be found in Matthew 6:5-6. Jesus discuses to pray alone to God. Do not pray to be seen or heard, as this is hypocrisy. In order to make head way, go to a quiet room and turn off your phone. From there, relax and close your eyes. What is the first image that comes to your mind?
Ask yourself what you are seeing and describe it. Why do you want this? Do you need this? Do you have the feeling of want or need for it? Explain to yourself why you feel that way. In addition, the speed of closing your eyes to focus helps show how close you are to your inner-self.
Exercise to Find Your Inner-Self:
Your inner-self is what is inside you. Therefore, it is truly who you are. With that said, none of us are untouchable by Jesus. Just remember that you can’t fool yourself, as you are you.
Prayer:
Jesus models a prayer for us during His Sermon on the Mount. However, you do not have to follow His outline word by word. Seany-Mac used the Lord’s prayer from Luke 11:2-4.
Acrostic to Help How to Pray:
Adoration is how you should worship God. Confession is to admit your sins, and repent to God. Thanksgiving is thanking God for all the great things He has done for you. Supplication is to be humble before God. During this time, you can ask for things you need. With that said, do not pray out of greed!
