Jake Karls, co-founder of the vegan chocolate brand, Mid-Day Squares, along with his sister and brother-in-law, calls himself the "rainmaker" and resident Social-Personality. In 2018, the trio embarked on a mission to craft the world's inaugural Functional Chocolate Bars, aptly described as "everything a chocolate bar isn't, everything a protein bar aspires to be.” The social skills he acquired from running his clothing brand became a strength for Mid-Day Squares, their commitment to radical authenticity and showing the good, the bad, and the ugly. He makes noise, builds relationships, and spreads the love.

We also talk about:

  • Building trust as a brand
  • Creating loyal fans instead of customers
  • The power of storytelling in marketing
  • Showing the good, the bad, and the ugly
  • Treating your brand like a reality show
  • Should every brand practice radical transparency?
  • Jake’s biggest learning lessons from being on social media
  • Dealing with criticism, haters, and negativity
  • Jake’s predictions for the future of CPG brands
  • What does influence mean to Jake?
